I may sound a bit biased but watching Cdramas helped me to overlook the constant negativity about China. Western media really does portray them as the enemy and like they live in an environment where you are constantly being watched as a foreigner. It's partly true due to the CCTV they have everywhere but no one cares unless you do something wrong - just like other countries. Thankfully Cdramas show China well to the rest of the world and people who can't afford to travel but you have to visit China to see its true colours.
